Cowboys need to check and repair pasture fences frequently.  Besides the elements, deer and Tule elk often go through a fence rather than over it letting livestock stray.

#OE503 Valley Pastures
Grassy range pastures, provide grazing for many horses and mules as well as cattle in the Owens Valley.  Pack Outfits drive their pack and saddle stock back and forth to higher mountain summer headquarters.

#OE504 Home at the End of a Long Trip
Pack mules are happy to be back at the corrals and look forward to mangers filled with hay after a long pack trip.  The cowgirl is looking forward to a hot shower before eating a home cooked meal that she did not have to prepare over a campfire.

The Silver Divide country is a secondary range within the Sierra Nevada Mountains and contains some of the most gorgeous scenery in the Sierra.  Jackson Meadow is the gateway to many large mountain lakes just above.

Cascade Valley along Fish Creek provides picturesque campsites and wild trout on almost every cast.  Isaac Walton Peak at the head of the long, deep, glacial valley seems to guard the fly fishermen’s paradise.

The long 100 hundred mile Horse Drives, between pack outfit headquarters in the mountains and winter pastures in the valleys, depend on the skills of the alert Trail Boss.  His job is to get the herd and the “drivers” to the end of the Drive safely through always changing conditions.
